GPI Prototype & Manufacturing Services

GPI Prototype and Manufacturing Services has been providing direct metal laser sintering (DMLS), also known as direct metal laser melting (DMLM) services since 2008. As one of the first metal additive manufacturing service providers in the country, GPI Prototype & Manufacturing Services has the expertise to take our clients from early metal prototypes all the way to production metal parts. With 25 employees dedicated to DMLS/DMLM, GPI produces metal prototypes and end-use parts with complex geometries not possible with traditional machining. We offer a variety of metals including aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, inconel and cobalt chrome.

Our engineers and consultants work with clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies in the medical, aerospace and defense industries to students in university laboratories. Parts built by GPI can be found on the first student (SEDS) designed 3D printed rocket scheduled for launch into space.

Currently at our Lake Bluff, IL manufacturing facility we are running 6 metal additive manufacturing machines from EOS. Our metal laser melting systems include 2x EOS M270, 2x EOS M280, and 2x EOS M290. We also own our facility and have plenty of room to accommodate company growth. Dedicated to maintaining cutting edge technology, GPI helps our clients rethink and revolutionize the way their parts are designed and manufactured.

To further ensure the highest quality parts, GPI is pleased to be ISO 9001:2008, ISO 13485:2003, and AS9100:2009 Rev-C certified as well as ITAR registered.

Many of our clients are applying for patents and we cannot show all of our work publicly. Direct Metal Laser Sintering


GPI currently has 6 DMLS machines from EOS to build metal prototypes and for metal additive manufacturing of complex end-use parts. There are 6x metal 3d printers including 2x EOS M270, 2x EOS M280, and 2x EOS M290 machines.

Tooling and
Conformal Cooling


Tooling is a primary application for DMLM/DMLS and provides rapid manufacturing of tooling inserts and components. Conformal cooling channels can be integrated into designs, which improve both the quality and economics of injection molded parts.

3D Scanning &
Reverse Engineering


Our 3d scanner collects data on the shape and appearance of objects, which is used to construct digital 3D models. GPI provides customers with high-end reverse engineering and precision 3D scanning services for high precision components.
